RINVOQ USE

RINVOQ is a prescription medicine used to treat adults and children 12 years of age and older with moderate to severe eczema (atopic dermatitis) that did not respond to previous treatment and their eczema is not well controlled with other pills or injections, including biologic medicines, or the use of other pills or injections is not recommended.

MICHAEL R.: After starting RINVOQ, I noticed a very good change in my itch and rash, so much so that it made Robyn and I extremely happy. It was very exciting for us both.

This was the only medication that I have tried that we really saw positive results from.

I’ve been on RINVOQ for nine months.

I'm beginning to forget the uncomfortable feeling with my itch and rash.

My name is Michael. I have eczema.

I decided to share my story because if I could encourage one person with eczema, it was my responsibility to do so. 

This is my beautiful wife, Robyn.

ROBYN: The itch and rash definitely impacted our time together.

MICHAEL R.: My eczema was constantly on my mind.

My skin was always red and irritated. I never had relief.   

There were times I didn’t want Robyn to touch my rash, even something as simple as holding my hand. 

ROBYN: It was heart-wrenching to see him pretty much brought to his knees, it was very hard as his wife to go through on a daily basis for five, six years.

MICHAEL R.: It was very discouraging when I would try a different type of medication and wouldn’t see an improvement in my itch and rash.

When I went to see Dr. Seminara, she told me she had another treatment option and she believed it could help.

MICHAEL R.: Let’s just say, I was apprehensive to take her at her word at that point in time because I had tried so many medications before.

After being on RINVOQ for a short period of time, I told my wife ‘I'm not itching right now.’

When I went back to my follow-up appointment, I was very excited, not just so she could say ‘I told you so,’ but so I could share with her what RINVOQ had done for me.

His rash was significantly improved. Itch was significantly improved.

Safety Considerations

RINVOQ (upadacitinib) may cause serious side effects, including:

  • Serious infections. RINVOQ can lower ability to fight infections. Serious infections, some fatal, occurred, including tuberculosis (TB) and infections caused by bacteria, fungi, or viruses.
  • Increased risk of death in people age 50+ with at least 1 heart disease risk factor.
  • Cancer and immune system problems. Increased risk of some cancers, including lymphoma and skin. Current or past smokers have higher risk for lymphoma and lung cancer.
  • Increased risk of major cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke, or death in people 50+ with at least 1 heart disease risk factor, especially in current or past smokers.
  • Blood clots, some fatal, in veins of the legs or lungs and arteries. This occurred more often in people 50+ with at least 1 heart disease risk factor.
  • Serious allergic reactions. Do not take if allergic to RINVOQ or its ingredients.
  • Tears in the stomach or intestines; changes in certain laboratory test results.
